TREKKING KVARNER
Istria, Kvarner & Islands
Just a few hours' walk on mountain trails and wood footpaths will get you to wild natural setting, deep and silent woods, beautiful mountain meadows and peaks offering a magnificent view of the bay of Kvarner and its islands. We offer you several destinations, each of which can give you something special (Ucka Nature Reserve, Risnjak National Park, Pakleno Nature Region). Depending on your wishes and abilities our guides will choose for you the most suitable trek and area.
Vela draga (Ucka Nature Park) - In thousands of years the water and the wind have created here some exceptional forms. There are narrow towers on the sunny part of the valley. On one side there is the peak of Ucka, and on the other side your eyes wander across the green vegetation of central Istria. All this gives a special charm to this magnificent natural setting. Vela draga, because of all the things mentioned, attracts a large number of climbers who in this beautiful and unusual setting enjoy climbing its numerous peaks.
Ucka (Ucka Nature Park) - In 1999 Ucka was declared a nature park because of its landscape and natural features. Extremely diversified features on a relatively small area characterize it. It covers 160 km˛ and is a starting point for numerous outdoor sports lovers such as: mountaineers, climbers, hang-gliders, Para gliders, mountain bikers, etc. Moreover, from its highest peak Vojak (1401m) there is a fantastic view of Istria, islands of Kvarner, Gorski kotar, Slovenian Alps and Italian Dolomites.
Mudna dol canyon - Climbing through Mudna dol is a special attraction because it takes you through a magnificent gorge , which is deeply cut into the mountain. The climbing is rather difficult, but it is worth experiencing it because of unexpectedly wild nature and richness of relief forms. It is interesting to note big «pots» in the stone bed created by the erosion of torrents. At certain points the gorge is only one to two meters wide. Trekking is combined with easy climbing, and for those who wish a little more excitement there is a small cave worth visiting, i.e. crawling into it.
Hahlic – Climbing of Hahlic is beautiful because it takes you across the open grassy plateau from which throughout your climbing, there is a magnificent view of Kvarner and its islands and Mudna dol, deeply cut in the mountain.
Snjeznik – (Risnjak National Park) The peak of Snježnik is one of the most beautiful belvederes in Croatia. Its harmonious forms, the stone cone surrounded by floral meadows, beneath which stretches a dark belt of the forest. Secluded position, open horizon on all sides, enchants every visitor. The view of the surrounding hills and mountains is particularly beautiful, the view stretching down to Velebit. On a sunny and windy day the eye reaches as far as the Slovenian Alps and Italian Dolomites. If you wish to see the snow on a hot summer day we'll take you to the Snjeznik cave.
Risnjak - (Risnjak National Park) Rich flora, the silence of luxuriant forests and lush Karsts forms has all found their place in the shelter of Risnjak. The view from the peak is magnificent: in the south towards the sea and the islands, and in the north towards infinite forests, and further on all sides a view of numerous peaks.
